The Burlington Writers Workshop is powered by teamwork. If you’d like to help out, please consider making a commitment as a volunteer. Don’t let the word “commitment” scare you. Most of these jobs take only an hour or two each week, and they can be done at your convenience, on your computer or smart phone. The application is at the bottom of this page.
Writing Center Manager
The Writing Center Manager would be the point person for making sure that the BWW Workshop Space is open 9 a.m. – 9 p.m. Monday – Thursday, and from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday. This does NOT mean you have to be there at all times. You’ll fill the volunteer staffing schedule on a monthly basis and find someone to open the center when a regularly scheduled volunteer has to cancel. The ideal person would be available most weekday mornings and be a regular user of email.
Hotel Vermont Book Editor
The editor of the Hotel Vermont book would choose one story, one essay, and two or three poems to be included in a small book printed by Hotel Vermont every three months. Good editing skills is a must. Job begins when the next submission window closes on June 30, 2014.
The Best of the Burlington Writers Workshop 2014 should be in every library and book store in the state. Your job as book seller would be to get it there. This volunteer would contact libraries and book stores, mailing books, and forward payments to the BWW.
Social Media Manager
Are you Facebook/Twitter savvy? Help keep conversations going on social media by posting writing-related links on our social media platforms. Bonus points if you want to expand the BWW’s use of social media to include Pinterest.
